The Hotel de Caumont is also a magnificent 18th century private mansion
A few steps from Cours Mirabeau, a new Art Center has opened in the Hôtel de Caumont, an 18th century private mansion completely restored.
Its purpose is to present two major temporary exhibitions a year dedicated to the great names in art history, from ancient art to the present day.
An original film, “Cézanne in the land of Aix”, screened daily in the auditorium, presents the artist's journey and his passion for Aix-en-Provence and its region.
A visit to the private mansion immerses you in the refined atmosphere of this exceptional place, from the main courtyard to the gardens, passing by the historic lounges. The carefully decorated rooms reveal daily life during the time of Pauline, Marquise de Caumont, one of the most famous owners of the hotel in the 18th century.
The hotel's private gardens, entirely refurbished in the spirit of the place, offer a peaceful space dotted with trees, fountains, flowerbeds bordered by boxwood and flower basins, covering more than 1,000 m².
