Unclassifiable artist, precursor and visionary humanist, Victor Vasarely conceived and financed during his lifetime a futuristic cultural project in accordance with the values he defends.
The construction of the building in the mid-1970s, by the artist himself, Victor Vasarely was designed as a laboratory for research, discovery and creation.
Place of sharing, exchange, experimentation, its foundation was inaugurated in 1976. It contains within it a honeycomb core composed of 42 architectural integrations of 8 meters by 6 constituting the synthesis of the work of Vasarely.

THE SCATTERED WORKS OF VICTOR VASARELY - Selection of works presented at the Gordes Didactic Museum from 1970 to 1996
From June 10 to August 23, 2020
|The 27 works presented are exceptional and punctuate each artistic period of the visual artist. Victor Vasarely had carefully selected them to present them to the public. For 24 years they had been hidden from the view of the visitor.
This exhibition is completed by a projection of part of the dispersed works as well as a history which explains the process of the spoliation of the collections of the institution. "This collection is intended to bear witness, to shed light on the itinerary that I 've traveled to arrive at my current conceptions as a plastic surgeon. In this sense, the didactic museum constitutes one of the two great poles of my work, the other being at the foundation of Aix-en-Provence ”. Victor Vasarely, 1977
